yep, that's what I thought

Midterm 1 is down.

Out of all the possible combinations of questions, these 3 really weren't that bad. A few people grumbled that they studied too much... but really, that's impossible.

I just hope they did well.

Come to think of it... I hope I did well.
I'm sure I did alright, but I'm not fooling myself. Two nights up North hanging with friends followed by a fantastic day at the opera with my wife did not lend itself well to hardcore studying.

I almost, almost hope I get a lower than average grade, just so I can kick myself into schooltime shape.

Almost.

more information, please...

Mid-terms are next week.

Normally, this wouldn't be an issue. Normally, I understand what topics I'm responsible to know.

Normally... I have at least a clue about what's going on.

I have discovered that more than one of my classes is taught using a self-described 'nebulous' approach... meaning I'm supposed to teach myself.

Do I see a problem with this?? Yes.

MBA programs may be cost effective, but they are not cheap. I came here to learn from professors and industry leaders because there are aspects of business that I do not know.

If I wanted to go to the library to learn how to run a multi-national corporation, I would have.

...

I guess I just wish I had a study guide.

"AAHH! You're not my science book!!"

Proven to myself.

After more than a month, I still have not completely grasped the concept of "efficient time management".

Isn't there a class I can take on this? There could be, actually.... sounds like something I should look into while I'm not working on required assignments...

But yes, I have proved to myself that 4 hours is enough time to complete an accounting case study, even when working on zero sleep and a head full of post Western PA wedding bliss. Those country folk do know how to throw a party.

Ouch. I have so very much left to do.

Group Meetings

I haven't decided if these are a bad thing or not.

We're in week 4 now, so group projects are pretty much in full swing. The meetings, which are now becoming very frequent, are rather... interesting?

Maybe it's because we never have agendas.

Maybe it's because people are only concerned with doing the smallest amount of work required to pass.

I hope it's the former.

Sunday night cram; thoughts on a marathon

On October 19th, if I don't get out of bed and submit to grueling punishment for no less than 5 hours, I will have wasted $75.00.

I signed up for the Toronto marathon a good 6 months ago.

Have I trained? Hardly. Have I moved internationally, found a place to live, and started a masters program? Yes.

Should those excuses stop me? It depends who you ask.

At this point, with the run a mere 19 days away, only one thing is motivating me...

I never finish anything I start.

How much?

A bit of my time these days has been consumed thinking about how much effort I should put into extra-curriculars that my program offers.

Take tomorrow's 'career day' for example.
It's a typical recruitment event, wherein hundreds of undergrads and grads try to impress dozens of IB's and consultancies, who in turn tell each kid that they would be the best fit for them, yada yada yada.

Problem is, I'm thinking of pursuing one of the outlier programs here - Real Property Management. There is one REIT represented tomorrow. One. And not a single developer in the sense that I'm looking for.

I'm not even that interested in REITs!

Well, if nothing else, tomorrow can prove to be a great opportunity to put on a suit and tie.

I love dressing up.

"Oh man... If I were you, I think I'd kill myself... "

It actually began three weeks ago.

This is my first blog. Sort of.
I created a blog years ago to deal with downtime and complete lack of creativity at work. Isn't that how they all start?
This second blog, my first, is intended to capture the next two years of my life in a meaningful and hilarious way.
These next two years will have me juggling three things - my dog, my marriage, and my MBA program. I know how to sort these things by order of importance. That is not difficult.

What is difficult is completely denying said order of importance.

You will read about my problems, you will read about my failures, and you will read about me crying myself to sleep.

And maybe, just maybe, you will read about triumph.

If you read this at all.
